Strictly speaking, electrolytic corrosion is what is called &#8220;stray current corrosion&#8221;, and has come to be called &#8220;electrolytic corrosion&#8221; for short. Dissimilar metal contact corrosion is a phenomenon in which contact points between different types of metals rust, and stray current corrosion is corrosion caused by a current (stray current) flowing into places it should not go.
